Being one of five kids, it was only a matter of time before ONE of my siblings got married. Turns out, it was my second oldest sister who got married first. Super happy for her and my new brother-in-law.
This wedding, I found out about probably two weeks before it happened. But that’s completely okay. At Christmas, my sister had told us all that her wedding was going to be a destination wedding with basically parents and then the bridal party and that was it. No problem here. So, when my mom and I were planning to meet for dinner when she came home from Hawaii for the wedding, I figured I better get started on a wedding gift.

This pattern was probably one of my favorites when I started looking for things to make my sister for her wedding. She has never been the extravagant type, and the simplicity of it just gave it an elegant touch. Because I think it gives it a more stark contrast that isn’t the normal wedding gift, I decided to invert the colors. I think it looks awesome, if I do say so myself.

However, eventually I came to the issue of “What color am I going to make the flowers?”
I asked my mom if she knew what colors my sister was doing for her wedding flowers, and she didn’t know. But she said she was going to ask.
While I waited for the response, I tossed around the idea of maybe red, since it looks so good with black and white. Or maybe a nice purple, because that’s my sister’s favorite color.
When I finally heard back from my mom, I was told that my sister wasn’t having real flowers at all. In fact, she was making satin flowers out of ribbon and accenting with old jewelry and steampunk odds and ends. (It was super sharp. I loved the pictures of it.)
So, in the end, I decided on some purple flowers since both my sister and her husband like purple. I also added a monogram “W” in honor of their last name. I finished everything off with a simple date underneath the monogram to commemorate the date.
I had a lot of fun for this one, and I will probably make it again for the wedding I am going to in October. It is simple, versatile, and very quick to make. (I finished this one in one weekend!)
