This project was kind of a hit-or-miss. It originated when a previous coworker told me that her daughter was having a baby and the baby shower was going to be Dr. Seuss themed. She asked me to make a hat for her to give to her daughter.
My original thought was the Lorax because that was always one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books growing up. Plus it has a great message in it, but that is besides the point.
So these hats used a Red Heart ear flap hat pattern, and I attempted to add a Lorax mustache. Originally, I had left the mustache as yarn and I was going to try to “brush out” the yarn which was supposed to give it a fluffier look…. that did not happen. Maybe it was the way that I did it, or the brush I was using. Either way, they did not turn out. So instead I braided the mustache ends and called it a day.
As you can see, the mustache doesn’t fully sit nicely. I might add in a little thread to hold the mustache ends where I want them…
In the end, I didn’t end up giving my coworker this hat and I made her a Cat in the Hat top hat instead (which I unfortunately didn’t take pictures of).
Also, since I don’t have a baby/toddler to demonstrate the smaller hat for you, my stuffed dinosaur volunteered to be the model. Thanks, Blue!

Any ideas on how to fix the mustache? Any other questions, comments, or concerns? Let me know!
Thanks for reading.
