Slouching Beret

This is probably one of my favorite hats that I have made. I’m not french, and I have never really been into the whole “Paris, Eiffel Tower, Pink, and Cream” phase (no offense meant to anyone who likes that sort of thing or anyone from France; just not my cup of tea).

But I was making a stoking cap for a friend once, and I had been given the measurements of his head. Well, somewhere in my calculations for where I should start, I ended up getting it WAY too big. So, by the time I realized it, I decided to just finish the hat by making the band tighter.

By doing this, I ended up with a really slouchy hat that reminded me of a French beret. I know it’s not exactly like theirs, but I like it. And I personally think it turned out rather nice.

It is surprisingly warm and I like to wear it in Winter and Fall when I dress up.

Sometimes, I feel a little like Bob Ross when I encounter these kinds of “happy little accidents.” It just goes to show that some mistakes are for the better.

Any questions, comments, or concerns? Let me know!
