Pony Tail Slouch Hat

The big thing when it comes to winter hats the past few years has been the slouchy hats with the opening in the top for a pony tail or bun to be pulled through. As a challenge, a friend at church asked if I had ever made one. When my answer was no, that obviously had to change.

This was another foray into the “creating my own pattern from scratch.”

I don’t think it turned out too bad. I didn’t mean for the hat to be as slouchy as it is, but I like it. I really like the edging I put around the brim of the hat. I used a backwards single crochet stitch to give it a different texture.

I think, if I made this hat again, I would probably try to use some varying stitches in order to lower the opening so that it sits more centered on the back without having as much slack.

It could also just be that I made the hat too long. A shorter hat would probably still sit nicely with the same positioning of the opening. But who knows? Not me. Not until I make another one, at least.

Live and learn, right? That’s how we grow. Not everything can be perfect the first time around.

Any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas for how to fix this pattern? Let me know!

Thanks for reading. – Jo
